Father's Day

The best dad in the world with the best kids in the world!


Okay I'm a little behind but this is what we did for father's day. I got the idea from Kendra Haterman who is by far the most creative person I know. I want to be her when I grow up. SO I took that idea and tweaked it a little for my Dad's present. Here it is:

I used an ultrasound of April's baby which we will replace when Emma comes. He really loved it. Father's Day was pretty laid back this year. Kerry had already opened and used his present a GPS system (if you know Kerry, you know why that was such a good present for him) on our trip to Utah, so the kids and I made breakfast in bed for him and gave him cards. My dad was out of town so we spent the afternoon with Kerry's dad. We got him a lawn gnome for his garden- Kerry picked it out.
I have to say how thankful I am for the man that i married. He brings me so much joy. He is the best dad for our kids, they absolutely adore him. SO Happy Father's day sweetie.

Utah Trip

Okay so first I think that Lagoon should pay me for this amzing promotional photo! Just kidding, but we had so much fun when we went to Utah for Garrett and Kylie's wedding. It was pretty much our family vacation this year, and I have tons of pictures, but Zach just yelled up the stairs that Hannah and Jared are pulling all the wipes out of the container so I will have to post about the trip later. Sigh! Summer is here woo hoo! (that was filled with sarcasm in case you couldn't tell)

I heart dogs!

Okay I really just wanted to post so I could get rid of the Mr Grinch music, it was driving me crazy each time I logged on to my blog, and the kids would come running each time they heard it. SO it's gone- and I hope that you get it...I am the grinch (see previous post) I was going to add "Who Let the Dogs out" for this post but decided that it would be just as annoying.

So thanks to my sister and SIL I am now completely obsessed with the Twilight series. I bought the first 2 on sale at Sam's Club Friday night and by Sunday was trying to figure out how to get the 3rd one. luckily, my neice, Lauren, is equally obsessed and had the 3rd book. So that is basically how I spent my weekend- reading! And now I can not wait until August 2nd. This is almost worse than Harry Potter. SO anyways, I don't want to ruin the books for anyone who hasn't read them, but I am TEAM JACOB all the way! I know that that doesn't make me very popular and if you are wondering why I feel that way let me know, I would LOVE to discuss my reasoning. If you haven't read them- read them! She is an amazing author I seriously could not put them down. If anyone is interested, I would love to get together August 2nd or December 12th.

Or at least that's what my kids think! Each morning we have a horrible ride to school- yes we are still in school for another week. FIghting, arguing, whining. Most of it stems from Jared "copying". Yeah that innocent sweet face is quite diabolical. He knows just how to get his brother and sister. So anyways, this morning started out the same. I thought I was going to lose it...but then I think I may have stumbled on to something. I told them that if they didn't stop fighting I was going to make them sing Primary songs all the way to school! I know horrible punishment- I told you I am a mean mom. That was answered by a chorus of whining. but promising to be good. Not 2 minutes later it started again (i want to know why my children are the devil, but that is a different story). So I turned on the Primary songs from this year on my ipod and told them to start singing. Well of course no one wanted to and Jared thought this whole thing was hilarious. I was persistant though and a very grouchy and grumbly version of "I am a child of God" ensued. I thought that maybe I had made a bad decision and I was going to make my children despise Primary music but then something happened. About halfway through the song the voices changed from scary monsters to beautiful angels. Then for the next 2 songs they tried to sound as pretty as possible. We pulled up to school as "If the Savior Stood Beside Me" was ending. All the kids had smiles on their faces and the car was calm. Who knew? So I think I may have something here. Not only will my car be quiet and calm on the way to school, but if it's not and they start fighting again, my kids will know all the songs by the time the program rolls around this fall. I had the smugest grin all the way home- I do have moments of genius sometimes. Of course this only happened once, we'll see how Monday goes!

I've been tagged by my sweet sister so I am supposed to tell you 6 random things about me. Most of me is pretty random so this should be easy.

1. I am a trivia nut! I love knowing things that I have no need to know. Mostly movies and stuff but also some history and culture stuff too. And I love putting my skills to the test. I could play that trivia game at Buffalo Wild Wings all night seriously! It's funny the things that I remember though, like I can name all the states (in alphabetical order, no really, there's even a song) and their capitals, but could not tell you when the constitution was written or when the Gettysburg address was given. And I know that Mtv started in 1981, but I didn't know who the Beastie Boys were (don't laugh Krystal). Go figure!

2. I know every word from beginning to end of The Little Mermaid. It must be part of the knowing random stuff thing. And I have performed- to my later embarrassment- on more than one occasion, and no, April, I am not talking about in the pool when we were kids. BUT Kerry knows all the words to Aladdin so we are totally meant to be.

3. I am not crafty. I wish I was, and it is not for lack of trying. I just think that some people have the gift. Unfortunately I am not one of them. My mom tried to teach me...she would just get so frustrated. I want to be crafty. 2 years ago I made Kerry a denim quilt cuz he has always wanted one. It looks great except for the edges which are a huge mess, I don't even know where to start to fix them. So it sits near my sewing machine taunting me laughing at me and my feeble attempt at craftiness. Then I took a knitting class last semester- it was me and a bunch of cute old ladies. I caught on really quick, but I stopped going to classes before I could learn how to take my project off the needles. Which brings me to number...

4. I am not a patient person. I want what I want and I want it now. Dad used to say that when they were handing out patience in heaven I got tired of waiting and got out of line. Actually I don't remember if he said that about me or my mom, but it applies nonetheless. I got married 4 months after Kerry got home from his mission. I had a baby 11 months after that. I quit school with only a semester and a half left to go. If I want to do something I do it, and really pout if I don't get my way.

5. I love lists! I could make lists about anything and everything. My husband teases me that if I spent half as much time doing the stuff on my lists as I spend writing them I would get so much done. But for me the lists are the fun part. That's just the way I roll. Hee hee!

And finally 6. I love being a Mom! It is my favorite thing about life. I love kissing dirty little faces, and holding chubby hands. I love that they think I am the most beautiful, smart, funny person alive (at least for now). I love being there when they accomplish something they have been working towards or when they fail and need a hug. I love how Mommy kisses make anything better. I love seeing their little personalities develop and even seeing a little of myself in each one of them. And I love the perks- how else could I listen to Jonas Brothers, Hannah Montana, and Dr. Jean? Or watch disney channel and high school musical all the time? Mostly though, I love the fact that I get to have an impact for good on their lives and I get to be loved by some of the most amazing people I know.
